2 injured in serious rear-end crash in Dane County.
A 43-year-old Waunakee man suffered serious injuries Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash in the township of Springfield.
The crash occurred at 7:20 a.m. at Highway 12 and Highway P. The Waunakee man, Vaewpheth Seignarack, was eastbound on Highway 12 and stopped at a red light at the intersection of Highway P, according to a Dane County Sheriff's Office news release.
When the light turned green, Seignarack slowly accelerated, and a car hit Seignarack from behind at highway speeds, authorities said.
Seignarack was taken by helicopter to a hospital for serious injuries but is expected to survive. The driver of the other vehicle, Praneeth Palety, 26, of Madison was taken by ambulance to a hospital for minor injuries.
Palety was cited for inattentive driving and non-registration of his vehicle. Officials said both drivers reduced the extent of injuries by wearing seat belts.
