Alexsandrina Hyer was driving southbound on U.S. Highway 97 at about 3 p.m. when she attempted to pass a semi-trailer, but failed to yield, striking a northbound car head-on. Hyer was injured and taken to Klickitat Valley Hospital. The four children that were riding in Hyer's car were all injured. A 12-year-old girl was flown to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old were taken to Mid Columbia Medical Center in the Dalles, Oregon, and a 6-year-old was taken to Klickitat Valley Hospital as well.
A car and a semi crashed at the intersection of South Wadsworth Boulevard and South Jewell Avenue at about 2 a.m., killing the driver of the car. The driver of the car had run a red light and turned in front of the semi's trailer. Road surrounding the accident was closed for several hours. Police do not believe that weather was a factor in this accident. The driver of the semi did not suffer any injuries.
Jamie Tennant was driving on State Highway 50 at M Street when she was struck by a Dodge truck going east on Highway 50. She was not wearing a seat belt, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the truck received minor injuries. Failure to yield right of way is considered a contributing factor in this accident.
The 29-year-old man was operating a white Harley-Davidson motorcycle at the intersection of Main and South Braeswood. The driver of a silver Hyundai Elantra failed to yield the right of way and turned left into the intersection, striking the motorcycle. He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Sunday, April 12.
