Police say they have a man in custody about two miles from the scene of a crash early Saturday after leading police on a chase that went into two counties. A police officer was injured in that crash and the suspect reportedly fled the scene with two children that had been in the back seat. The situation began around 2 a.m. when a Hendricks County K-9 officer attempted to make a traffic stop on South Raceway Road and County Road 100 South.

The Minnesota State Patrol is identifying the four people killed Friday near Sleepy Eye on icy roads. It happened on Highway 14 in Brown County just after 8 p.m. A 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix was headed westbound on Highway 14, going into a curve heading southbound, when it lost control and entered into the opposite lane of traffic. It was hit broadside by a 1999 Dodge Ram headed northbound into the curve.

A 44-year-old man was charged with driving under the influence Friday night after causing a three-car accident on Route 44 that injured two children, police said. Several fire departments responded to crash, which happened at the intersection of Route 44 and Old Albany Turnpike near the Simsbury town line about 6:21 p.m. According to police, the first vehicle, driven by Alex Ponomarov, turned left from Route 44 onto Old Albany Turnpike and struck the side of a minivan that was traveling in the opposite lane of Route 44.

Eight children and one adult were injured when a Megabus and a day care van collided Wednesday morning on Chicago's south side. Another 28 people declined medical treatment after the 7:30 a.m. crash on Interstate 90/94 -- the Dan Ryan Expressway -- near 51st Street, according to officials from the Chicago Fire Department and the Illinois State Police. Three were taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, three were taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center and two were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, said a fire department spokesman. All the injuries were minor, he said.

Three people, including a 36-month-old child, were transported to a hospital after a head-on collision in north Phoenix on Wednesday, according to Phoenix fire officials. Phoenix police received the call for the head-on collision between two vehicles near Dynamite Boulevard and Pyramid Peak Parkway just before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to a Phoenix Fire Department spokesman.

Police are searching for one of the hit-and-run drivers who struck a 14-year-old girl who darted into traffic in a busy Orange County intersection. The crash happened Monday in Santa Ana. Surveillance video released Tuesday shows the teen trying to dodge cars at 17th and Bristol streets. First, she is struck by a red pick-up truck, and the driver speeds away. She is then struck again by a black car. Though the video shows her flying into the air and appearing to land on her upper shoulders, the girl suffered leg injuries and has been released from the hospital.

Two buses full of band members crashed into each other on their way to the parades this morning, according to an official with New Orleans Emergency Medical Services. Three students suffered non life-threatening injuries and were transported to Children's Hospital of New Orleans, said a spokeswoman for New Orleans EMS. The three students were from Martin Behrman Charter School, according to NBC affiliate WDSU. The buses, one of which appeared to suffer heavy damage to its engine block, were headed westbound on Interstate 10 near the Claiborne Avenue exit when they crashed at about 8:01 p.m.

A school bus full of elementary school children was hit by a car in Rowan County Tuesday morning. The crash was reported around 9:45 a.m. on Woodleaf Road in Rowan County just outside of Salisbury near W. Ridge Road. The school bus was bringing back 28 students from Woodleaf Elementary School who had gone to see a play at the Norvell Theater in downtown Salisbury. A car crossed the center line of the road hitting the bus head-on. A second bus full of students was behind the first bus, but it was not involved in the accident.

Police say a woman was trying to commit suicide by intentionally crashing into two cars Tuesday with her baby strapped into a car seat in her SUV. Elizabeth Kruger, 28, of Evergreen Park is charged with one count of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery, one count of aggravated fleeing and eluding, one count of leaving the Scene of a personal injury accident, one count of endangering the life of a child and several more traffic offenses. Police say Kruger purposely crashed her BMW SUV into a car at 79th Street and New England in Burbank, and drove away.
