A pedestrian died early Tuesday morning in a hit-and-run traffic wreck in west Houston.

The incident happened about 2 a.m. at 8500 Richmond near Dunvale, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said the victim was crossing Richmond when a dark-colored or black sports utility vehicle traveling eastbound hit him. The man died at the scene.

Police said the driver of the SUV sped away.

No description of the driver or further details about the SUV were available.

A Houston man was killed in a two-vehicle accident on the outbound Katy Freeway.

The incident was reported around 9:30 a.m. Monday, according to Houston TranStar.

Officials said a 48-year-old man was driving the white Freightliner tractor trailer when he locked the vehicle's brakes, causing him to hit another vehicle.

The tractor trailer rolled and the driver died at the scene.

Houston police said the two people in the other vehicle, a 38-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy, were transported to Northwest Memorial Hermann Hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities have identified a 14-year-old girl who was killed Monday night in a hit-and-run collision when she dashed in to a darkened, rain-slick roadway in northwest Harris County.

Nicole Ruekwe died in the incident that occurred about 6:50 p.m. in the 5500 block of Barker Cypress near River Sage, according to the Harris county Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Ruekwe was trying to cross the street when a vehicle hit her. As she lay on the pavement, another vehicle may also have hit her.

Both drivers sped away.

A rollover accident has cleared and all inbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway at Weslayan have reopened. The accident was reported around 2:10 p.m. Monday. Emergency crews had blocked three left lanes, but all lanes reopened at 2:45 p.m.

Charges have been filed against the suspected drunken driver involved in a fatal crash on Highway 288.

Officials said around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, 24-year-old Joshua Gilbert was speeding on the South Freeway when he abruptly turned off the freeway and plowed his car into the back of another vehicle.

Inside that vehicle, police said was a family of four, including a father, mother and their two children.

A police officer suffered minor injuries after crashing his patrol car during a high-speed chase through northeast Houston. It started around 5:15 a.m. Saturday, when an HPD officer ran the plate of a pickup truck that ran a stop sign on Kress Street. According to officers, the plate came back as stolen, so the officer attempted to pull the truck over.

A violent crash left two people dead and shut down part of FM 1960 for hours Friday morning.

The crash closed all lanes of FM 1960 near the intersection of Wortham Boulevard through the morning rush hour.

Just after 2:20 a.m., rescue crews were called to that intersection.

Deputies said a man driving a red Volkswagen, who was eating at IHOP with friends, remembered he forgot his jacket at a pub they were at earlier in the night. He left his friend to drive back and get it.

Houston police arrested a woman Thursday morning after officers said she drove the wrong way on the road and crashed into a patrol car. Officers said that woman was driving on Almeda around 12:45 a.m. Thursday when she turned down the wrong side of the road and started driving against traffic. An officer traveling in those lanes saw the driver and tried to avoid her. The woman ended up clipping the back of the police car. She then lost control and drove into a large ditch on the side of the road. No one was injured in the accident.

All inbound lanes of the North Freeway have reopened at Airtex Boulevard after a three-vehicle accident.

The accident was reported around 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to Houston TranStar.

Emergency crews had blocked the right shoulder lane and three right main lanes.
