Lafayette, LATroopers with the Louisiana State Police arrested Charles Moter, 58, on charges stemming from a vehicle crash that left three people dead Saturday afternoon.
The crash happened on Louisiana Highway 343, south of U.S. Highway 90. Authorities said Moter was trying to pass a northbound vehicle when he came within a hazardous proximity to a vehicle driven by Nathaniel Malone, 31, of Duson.
Malone steered left to avoid a crash, authorities said, but the front of Moter’s vehicle struck the right side of Malone’s vehicle.

Thursday, December 26, 2013A man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Santa Rosa Friday evening after allegedly causing a five-car crash that left three people injured, police said Saturday.
Police said the collision occurred around 5:15 p.m., when a Toyota Tacoma speeding down Hoen Avenue toward Yulupa Avenue rear-ended a car stopped at a red light.
The force of the crash caused three more cars stopped at the light to collide, causing major damage to each of the cars and leaving three drivers with minor injuries, police said.
One of the drivers was taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Salt Lake City, UTThe Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a 10-year-old boy died Friday in a snowmobile crash just east of Woodland in Wasatch County, near Highway 35.
Officials say the 10-year-old was driving the snowmobile with his father and lost control of snowmobile causing it to roll.
The boy suffered fatal injuries while the father sustained only minor injuries. Police say both of them were wearing helmets.

Columbus, OHA father was jailed after he drove away without talking to officers about running over his 4-year-old son who had fallen out of their van near a central Ohio construction site, fatally injuring the boy, according to the State Highway Patrol.
Natividad de Jesus Hernandez, 30, of Columbus, was arrested Thursday after showing up at a hospital where his son, Angel Gustbabo Hernandez, died after the accident earlier in Union County, northwest of Columbus.

New York, NYA 39-year-old Long Island woman has been arrested for allegedly driving drunk with her two young children in the car, police say.
Suffolk County police say Laquita Brooks was arrested after losing control of the car and striking a signpost and then a tree Thursday night in Huntington.
Police say her 5-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter were seated in the rear and didn't have proper child restraints. The girl suffered a serious head injury and her brother sustained a minor head injury.
The mother wasn't seriously hurt.

Los Angeles, CAA driver was arrested Thursday night for allegedly slamming into a car, sending it and four passengers plunging into a flood control channel, then driving away from the crash, authorities said.
The hit-and-run collision happened about 7:40 p.m. near Parthenia Street and Noble Avenue in North Hills, according to a watch commander with the Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Division.

San Antonio, TXA 6-year-old girl died Thursday afternoon after she was run over by a snack truck on the Southwest Side.
San Antonio Police said the child, identified by family as April Nicole Soliz, had been buying candy with one of her friends, a 10-year-old girl, from the truck around 2:30 p.m. in the 5300 block of Prairie Flower Drive.
Lopez said as the truck driver, a 50-year-old man, was trying to turn around on a dead-end street, Soliz jumped onto the vehicle's rear bumper.
Police said the driver did not know she had jumped onto the vehicle.

Philadelphia, PANewark Police are investigating a serious six-car crash that left an eight-month-old girl hospitalized in critical condition Thursday.
It happened around 11 a.m. on Capital Trail at the Windy Hills Bridge.
Police say a southbound Dodge Neon operated by a 36-year-old woman, with two small children inside, slid on the icy roadway and into the path of a northbound Honda Accord, operated by a 75-year-old man with a 75-year-old female passenger. The Neon was struck on the passenger side by the front of the Accord.

Wednesday, December 25, 2013A grandmother was killed and her two young grandchildren were hospitalized after they were struck by a car as she pushed them across the street in a stroller in Sunrise on Christmas night.
The incident happened as the woman was crossing Pine Island Road at Sunset Strip, a Sunrise Police spokesman said.
One of the children was taken to Broward Health Medical Center by air rescue and the grandmother and other child were taken by an ambulance, police said. The grandmother, later identified as 61-year-old Li Fang Dong, died at the hospital.

Chicago, ILPolice suspect alcohol was a factor in a crash that killed an 8-year-old girl with the child's father was at the wheel.
He is in the hospital Wednesday night as the little girl's family is left to cope with this Christmas tragedy.
It was a single car crash and police say the vehicle may have been traveling at a fast speed.
It happened Christmas Eve around 11:15 p.m. in the 1000 block of West Garfield Boulevard.
Relatives say 8-year-old Lauren was riding in the back of a Chevy Impala which was being driven by her father, 26-year-old Jeff Allen Smith.
