A 6-year-old girl died Thursday afternoon after she was run over by a snack truck on the Southwest Side.

San Antonio Police said the child, identified by family as April Nicole Soliz, had been buying candy with one of her friends, a 10-year-old girl, from the truck around 2:30 p.m. in the 5300 block of Prairie Flower Drive.
Lopez said as the truck driver, a 50-year-old man, was trying to turn around on a dead-end street, Soliz jumped onto the vehicle's rear bumper.
Police said the driver did not know she had jumped onto the vehicle.
As the truck rolled backward, she fell and was caught beneath a tire, he said.
Police have not yet released the driver's identity, but Lopez said he is not expected face any charges.
