An Auburn man suffered two broken legs early Wednesday when he was struck by a vehicle while standing next to his pickup on Highway 99 in Chico.
The California Highway Patrol responded about 2:15 a.m. to a two-vehicle collision on southbound Highway 99 north of Skyway. The officer found a white Honda in the No. 2 lane, a man lying in the roadway just ahead of the vehicle and a Chevrolet pickup on the right shoulder. The man, identified as Dallas James, 27, of Auburn, had two broken legs according to a CHP news release.
A 43-year-old man disappeared Monday after crashing a vehicle on a Highway 99 offramp, leaving an injured woman in his car, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Investigators are looking for a man they identified as Alfredo Ventura, according to CHP Officer Moises Onsurez.
Ventura was the suspected driver of a black 1998 Ford Explorer heading north about 7:30 p.m. Monday on Highway 99, the CHP said.

The 20-year-old driver told the California Highway Patrol she was driving through Chico about 12:30 p.m. Monday in her Chevrolet Aveo southbound on Highway 99 at about 65 mph when she tried to exit at Cohasset Road. She pressed on the brake but the car would not slow.
The driver decided to stay on the freeway and placed the car in low to reduce her speed. However, the revving of the engine alarmed her so she put the Chevy back in drive.
A woman was killed this morning when her car veered into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle on Highway 99 in Lynnwood, police said. The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. in the 17100 block of Highway 99. Police said a woman, later identified as Jeretta C. Graham, 77, was driving south when her car veered into northbound traffic, colliding head-on with a second vehicle. The southbound driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the second driver, a woman in her 40s, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, police said.
A California Highway Patrol cruiser and a car collided Sunday night on Highway 99 in Butte County, sending three people to the hospital with minor to moderate injury.
The crash occurred at about 8:45 p.m. Sunday near Biggs on Highway 99 at B Street when a Ford Crown Victoria patrol vehicle and a Ford Fusion collided. Both vehicles were traveling northbound on Highway 99.

A 30-year-old man had died after being struck by a car as he attempted to cross Highway 99 near Manor Way in Everett around 10 p.m. Thursday night. The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified as 30-yer-old Dahai Guan of Federal Way. The driver of the vehicle was headed southbound on Highway 99 when Guan reportedly stepped in front of him. It was determined that the driver was not at fault. Everett is growing in population, and with this growth comes increases in traffic, congestion, and accidents.
