Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car early Saturday while walking on a crossover of the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn.
The man, whose identity has not been released, was hit between exits 7 and 8 near Coney Island Avenue at around 4:45 a.m., according to officials.
Authorities said the driver who hit the man did not flee.
Route 82/Norwich Road is shut down in the area of Route 354/Old Colchester Road and Harris Road in Salem after a van hit a pole, according to police.
The accident was reported just before 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The phone pole and wires are down and Connecticut Light and Power crews are making repairs.
Fire officials at the scene said four people were trapped after live wires fell on top of the van. They were transported to Backus Hospital, where they are all listed in stable condition.

A 29-year-old man died Friday following a parachuting accident at the Perris Valley Airport, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.
The man was attempting to land when the accident was reported about 11:20 a.m. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, sheriff’s Sgt. Frank Lodes said.
The man was an Army sky diver who trains other jumpers, but he was not training at the time. He is believed to be based in Yuma, Ariz., the newspaper said.
A woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a Saturday afternoon crash on Polte Road. The incident happened about 4:30 p.m., when Courtney Robinson, 19, was making a left turn out of her residence onto Polte Road heading westbound in a 2001 Kia Sportage. A 1991 Chevrolet K1 pickup, driven by Kenton Arendse, 22, of Sedro-Woolley, was heading eastbound at the time and struck Robinson’s SUV on the left side. Robinson was transported to Skagit Valley Hospital, where she underwent surgery. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected.
A pedestrian in Huntington Beach was killed after being hit by two different drivers. Authorities are searching for the second driver. Police say the incident happened around 4:30 a.m. Saturday at Pacific Coast Highway and Brookhurst Street. Authorities say the first driver hit the pedestrian and stopped. But a second vehicle hit the man. That driver left the scene and has not been identified. The name of the 28-year-old pedestrian will not be released until the family is notified.
