New Orleans police said a 70-year-old man was killed in a crash Monday night on I-10 at the Twin Span.

The crash happened about 8:30 p.m.

Police said the man was traveling eastbound on I-10 in his Saturn SUV when he lost control and struck several guard rails. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Blood and alcohol tests are pending and the Orleans Parish Coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

A portion of Interstate 10 was closed overnight while emergency responders' cleared the roadway of flaming wreckage.

Police said two vehicles collided near an 18-wheeler and caught fire. The accident happened around 1 a.m. on eastbound I-10, near Huebner Road.

Information from the scene indicated the two drivers were taken to an area hospital in unknown condition.

The driver of the trailer-truck was not injured.

One person died and two people were seriously injured after a wreck involving a semi-truck struck and SUV on Interstate 10 near Marana early Tuesday morning, authorities said. A 39-year-old man was driving an SUV westbound at about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday when it swerved for an unknown reason and went into the center median, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The SUV then rolled over cables in the median and came to a stop in the eastbound lanes, according to DPS.

Former Lobo men’s basketball player A.J. Hardeman was involved in a rollover crash early Saturday morning in Odessa, Texas, that left an Albuquerque woman dead. The Texas Department of Public Safety said that Hardeman fell asleep while driving on Interstate 10 and swerved off the road and hit a guard rail, according to the report. Adrianna Gatt, 23, of Albuquerque, was thrown from the car during the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Hardeman and his two-year-old daughter, who was also in the car, were taken to a local hospital and later released, according to the Odessa American.

A possibly injured motorcyclist is missing following an accident that closed eastbound Interstate 10 in southern Arizona for much of the night. Eastbound lanes were closed near Marana about 10 p.m. Wednesday and reopened about 4 a.m. Thursday. Westbound lanes weren’t affected. The state Department of Public Safety says responders searched unsuccessfully for hours along the highway near the Marana Road exit for a motorcycle rider.

A crash involving two big rigs snarled early morning traffic on the eastbound 10 Freeway through Pomona on Tuesday.

The crash occurred shortly after 2 a.m. just west of North White Avenue. All eastbound lanes were initially shut down, but one lane was reopened at approximately 5 a.m., letting traffic squeeze through. Two more lanes were reopened about 30 minutes later, and the remaining lanes were reopened shortly before 7 a.m.

A 25-year-old man from Los Angeles is facing multiple counts of felony endangerment, assault and aggravated assault after attempting to take the wheel of a Greyhound bus en route from Los Angeles to Dallas early today, causing a crash that injured two dozen people, authorities said.

A parolee was arrested Thursday after police in Kenner said he stole a car and led police on a high-speed chase through LaPlace. The incident began about 7:15 a.m. in the 3200 block of Ole Miss Drive in Kenner. The owner of a red 2007 Toyota Camry reported that his car had just been stolen as he was letting the car warm up in the driveway, police said. Shortly after the car was reported stolen, officers saw the car on I-10 West at Loyola Drive. The driver, who police identified as 22-year-old Antoine Reid, refused to pull over when prompted by officers in pursuit.

A crash on Interstate 10 involving a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office police cruiser and a minivan caused major traffic delays Tuesday. The crash happened on the interstate near U.S. Highway 301 about 9:15 a.m. Police said the minivan with four women inside and the JSO cruiser were heading west on I-10 when the minivan slowed down to avoid an accident ahead. Van in JSO crash Police said the officer didn't see the van slow down and the cruiser rear-ended it. The van spun in the roadway and the patrol car left the road and went into a ditch.

Two women died Sunday night after their car ricocheted across Interstate 10. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the State Police but the women were likely driving above the speed limit, according to a spokeswoman.

Susan Perez of Metairie, 31, was driving east near Cleary Avenue when her car, a 2004 Toyota Camry, suddenly veered to the left and hit the barrier, then crossed all eastbound lanes and hit the right guardrail. Perez and her passenger, Karla Ordonez of New Orleans, 35, were pronounced dead at the scene.
