Susan Perez, Karla Ordonez, killed when their car crashes into median and then guardrail on I-10.

Two women died Sunday night after their car ricocheted across Interstate 10. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the State Police but the women were likely driving above the speed limit, according to a spokeswoman.

Susan Perez of Metairie, 31, was driving east near Cleary Avenue when her car, a 2004 Toyota Camry, suddenly veered to the left and hit the barrier, then crossed all eastbound lanes and hit the right guardrail. Perez and her passenger, Karla Ordonez of New Orleans, 35, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Both women were wearing seat belts. Toxicology tests are forthcoming.
