Alexandri McKinney, 48, from Hackensack, died Wednesday when the car she was riding in crashed on Interstate 95 in Virginia. McKinney was pronounced deceased at a local hospital after the 5 a.m. crash in Chesterfield County. The driver of the 2010 Toyota Camry, Xaviar N. Sanders, 19, of Homestead, Florida, was charged with reckless driving after he drove off the right side of the highway, overcorrected, drove the car back onto the road across several lanes of traffic and into the barrier. McKinney was not wearing a seatbelt.

Four people were killed in an early-morning single-vehicle SUV accident on Interstate 95 in Sumter County near mile marker 141.  A Honda Pilot carrying seven people exited the roadway, and hit a guardrail and a tree in the median. The driver, Juan Escoboza Sr., Maria Tapia, Clarabel Montero, and Luis Alberto Tapia were killed. The cause of death for the four victims was blunt force trauma. The coroner reports the victims were driving to Florida to visit family for the holidays. Three other passengers in the SUV were injured.

A fatal car crash happened Friday night in Jasper County when driver Kevin R. Benoit, 51, of New Bern, North Carolina, ran off the road on southbound I-95 into the Coosawhatchie River and became submerged. He was killed in the crash. Benoit's 2003 Nissan Xterra was traveling south on I-95 and ran off the road near mile marker 29.

Doris Ann Goldwire and two passengers, Ricky Goldwire and Chakirah Chapman, go out of their vehicle on Interstate 95 to examine damage to it after hitting a Jersey barrier. A bakery delivery truck hit them, killing Doris Ann Goldwire and seriously injuring the two passengers. Another person who was in the vehicle at the time was not hurt. The truck driver, Leonardo Arce, 34, was not hurt. This incident is still under investigation.

Charles Corteguera was walking on the entrance ramp to Interstate 95 from Copans Road when he was hit by a BMW driven by 27-year-old Jared Matthew Solomon. Corteguera was pronounced dead at the scene, and his car was found not far away.

A 37-year-old man died in a hit-and-run crash on northbound Interstate 95 sometime between Friday night Saturday morning in St. Johns County. The victim’s body was found just before 7 a.m. near the Florida 207 exit. A 2006 Ford E250 van was disabled on the shoulder of the freeway when a passing vehicle collided with the van. That passing vehicle then hit Rafhel A. Mahese of Davie, who died on the scene. It appears that Mahese got out of the van after it became disabled and was standing near the front fender when the passing vehicle collided with the van and Mahese.

A 55-year-old Rehoboth man,  Martin Vaslet, died at the scene of a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 95 Saturday night at 10:40 pm. He was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle. Vaslet was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta which left the road and struck a tree in the median. He was ejected from the vehicle.

A Road Ranger who had stopped to assist a motorist on Interstate 95 was hit and killed early Sunday by a car which then fled the scene. The Road Ranger was standing on the east shoulder of the northbound lanes of I-95 south of Palmetto Park Road, speaking with the driver of a white Dodge Charger, when he was hit at 1 a.m. The Road Ranger was identified as Arnold Metellus, 59, of Boynton Beach. The suspect vehicle fled without stopping. It is described as a silver or gray SUV-type vehicle that exited at Palmetto Park Road. The vehicle is believed to have front and right side damage.

Willie A. Ward, 40, a truck driver, died Monday after pulling over on Interstate 95 to inspect his truck. The incident occured around 1:20 a.m. on October 13 when the driver of a Ford box truck, Paul E. Sharpless, 66, swerved off the road and hit Ward while he got out of his truck. The box truck overturned on the on ramp. Sharpless sustained minor injuries and refused treatment. Ward was taken to Southern VA Regional Medical center, where he died. Sharpless was charged with reckless driving.

Three children and one adult sustained injuries from a car crash just before 9 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2014. The incident occured in Prince George's County along Interstate 95. One young child received life-threatening injuries, and the other two children were hospitalized as trauma patients. The adult received significant injuries. The cause of the crash is undetermined at this time.
