An Army veteran was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in the community of Canyon Lake Friday. Police responded to reports of a man down on the 31000 block of Railroad Canyon Road around 2:17 a.m. and located a man deceased in the roadway. Family members have since identified the man as 32-year-old Scott Bolger. Bolger's wife says the father of two had stepped out to a local tavern with his brother-in-law Friday night. Investigators say he was walking home, stepped off the sidewalk, and was hit. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

A motorist who rear-ended and killed another driver on Interstate 580 in Livermore on Thursday was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter, authorities said. The collision happened shortly after 10 a.m., when Primitivo Garcia, 53, of Livermore failed to slow his Hummer for traffic and rear-ended a Jeep, causing the Jeep to burst into flames in the westbound lanes near North Livermore Avenue, said the CHP.

A man was taken into custody early Thursday morning following a police pursuit that began in University City and ended in Clairemont. At about 4:50 a.m., a clerk at the United Oil gas station on Governor Drive near Genesee Avenue called San Diego police about a man who tried to smash a store window with a sledgehammer. Police briefly chased the suspect, later identified as Vongdara Vongvichitch, through surface streets before he crashed the Honda Civic he was driving into a fence on Limerick Avenue off Clairemont Mesa Boulevard in Clairemont.

A Southern California city councilman who is paralyzed from the waist down survived a bizarre crash down a 30-foot embankment that left him unconscious for 11 hours with barely any access to emergency help.

Rialto Councilman Shawn O’Connell was driving to a friend’s home in the high desert to get some adjustments done on his wheelchair when he careened his specially tailored car off a 30-foot embankment off the 15 Freeway in Devore, police said.

One man is dead after he was struck by a car on Interstate 80 near Madison Avenue.

According to a CHP spokesperson, four vehicles and big rig were involved in the crash on Wednesday morning. Two of the cars colliding, sending one car into the center divide.

The driver of the car that hit the center divide — a man in his 30s — got out of the vehicle and tried to run to across the freeway, but was hit and killed. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

A vehicle has driven into a Folsom Starbucks on Tuesday.

Nine people were injured when a black Lexus SUV drove into the coffee shop on East Bidwell Street. Two of them were taken to the hospital.

One person was killed another injured Tuesday afternoon in a three-vehicle accident in Roseville. The incident occurred at 3:17 p.m. Roseville police and fire personnel responded to a call of a crash on southbound Foothills Boulevard at Chignahuapan Way. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 1995 Chrysler sedan eastbound on Chignahuapan Way was attempting to make a left turn onto northbound Foothills Boulevard, when the car crossed in front of a 1996 Ford pick-up truck southbound on Foothills.

A woman and her small daughter died Tuesday when their SUV smashed into the back of a grocery store delivery truck on north Interstate 5 south of the Orange County line. Many drivers who witnessed the crash or saw the wreckage right after were distraught, one woman posted on Twitter. Northbound traffic was halted for nearly an hour. Even after two lanes opened, the backup worsened and extended as far south as Oceanside Boulevard.

A 13-year-old boy was allegedly behind the wheel of a pick-up truck when it ran a stop sign in Echo Park and collided with a mail truck, ejecting the mail carrier and pinning her beneath her vehicle, authorities said.

The crash happened about 3:30 p.m. on Douglas Street near Bellevue Avenue.

The boy allegedly took the pick-up truck from his home, a spokesperson with the Los Angeles Police Department Central Traffic Division said.

A former chief operating officer of the online file-sharing service Napster was killed when he was struck by a sheriff’s patrol car while riding a bicycle, authorities said Monday.

Lawyer and music industry veteran Milton Everett Olin Jr. of Woodland Hills died Sunday, according to the L.A. coroner’s office.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Olin and the patrol car were traveling in the same direction on Mulholland Highway in suburban Calabasas when the collision occurred.
