One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a weather-related accident in south St. Louis County Friday afternoon.

St. Louis County Police said the accident involved two vehicles. One vehicle lost control and t-boned.

Authorities reported that two people were critically injured when the car was struck. One of the victims was pronounced dead later at the hospital. No one else involved in the crash was injured.

The identities of the victims have not been released yet.

An Oregon State Police trooper was injured Friday night when his patrol car was rear-ended as he was wrapping up a traffic stop on Oregon 34 east of Corvallis. Just after 8 p.m., Trooper Don Rummer was finishing a traffic stop and got back into his patrol car when he saw a car coming from behind lose control on the snow- and ice-covered roadway. The car crashed into the back of the stopped patrol car.

Sandoval County Sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Baron remained in critical condition and on life support after he was struck by a car on icy Interstate 25 while investigating a weather-related crash near San Felipe Pueblo.

Baron, 47, remained in the neurological intensive care unit at the University of New Mexico Hospital where law enforcement officers from several agencies awaited word of his condition, a Sandoval County said.

One person died Friday after a car went over a guardrail on the Bloomington Ferry Bridge and landed on its roof, according to police. The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle, a 2003 Buick LeSabre, on the icy blacktop of highway 169 near mile post 117 and ran off the road, police said. The LeSabre was the only car involved.

A car crash in Clinton on Wednesday killed a young girl and injured two drivers. A red Pontiac Grand Am was traveling west on 1800 North at 1100 West, near Clinton Elementary School, when it crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a white Dodge Durango, said Clinton police. A 3-year-old girl in the Grand Am died in the crash, Valentine said. Her father, who was driving, was injured and hospitalized, as was the woman driving the Durango, Valentine said. Authorities were not releasing the girl’s name pending family notification.

State Department of Transportation anti-icing crews coated Interstate 290 in Worcester with salt brine at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, about an hour before icy road conditions triggered a chain reaction crash that ultimately involved 65 vehicles, including three tractor trailers, officials said.

A DOT spokesman said today the DOT activated its anti-icing forces in central Massachusetts around 2:30 a.m. in reponse to weather forecasts.

A tow truck driver was injured when police said a vehicle hit him as he was tending to a crashed vehicle along a highway.

Randy Hammer owns Tigers Towing in Battle Creek and has 25 years of experience.

A Tigers Towing coworker told 24 Hour News 8 that Hammer was operating the levers on the side of his flat bed truck as he was tending to a vehicle that had slide off Interstate 94 and into a ditch near Helmer Road near Battle Creek.

He saw another eastbound vehicle coming toward him, after police said the driver lost control on the icy road.

One person has died and eight people were injured in a series of accidents just west of Spokane this morning. The accidents have blocked Interstate 90 eastbound, and westbound traffic is moving stop-and-go. The accidents appear to have been caused by icy conditions on the road and drivers traveling too fast for the conditions. A pickup truck lost control near the overpass crossing West Medical Lake 4 Lakes Road. The pickup crossed the median and headed into oncoming traffic.

Preliminary indications are that an icy section of roadway contributed to a crash that killed a 90-year-old Tremonton man.

The Utah Highway Patrol said Wednesday that troopers continued to investigate the Tuesday afternoon accident in Logan Canyon. However, motorists told UHP that the area of the Logan Canyon road where Gordon Larson’s Buick LeSabre went out of control, near Temple Fork Road, was slippery at the time of the 4:20 p.m. crash.

Larson, who was heading down the canyon about 15 miles east of Logan, plunged down an embankment into the river, landing upside down.

Zack Davis, 18 years old, passed away Monday night. He was involved in a 6 car accident on the interchange between Highway 16 and I-5. The road was icy at the time. Mr. Davis's car was rear-ended while he was still in his car. The driver of that car will be cited. What money damages are recoverable in a death claim? Every death from an accident is tragic.
