A 15-year-old girl from Murrieta was in a coma and on life support following a skateboarding accident Sunday. The community is now rallying to help raise funds to pay for her medical expenses. Madison Olson was skating down a steep street in San Clemente, when she lost control. She was not wearing a helmet and suffered a serious head injury. Her father, Jason Olson, has faith she will survive, but realizes there will be huge medical expenses.
One person was killed when their car caught on fire after striking another vehicle on Barkley Boulevard Sunday morning, Jan. 5. One vehicle was headed down the hill on Barkley Boulevard around 9:55 a.m. when it slid on the icy road, crossed the centerline and hit another car headed up the hill. The downhill car caught on fire, and witnesses were unable to help the driver out of the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames. That driver died at the scene, and the other driver was not injured.
A head-on crash near Auburn sent three people, including a 4-year-old girl, to the hospital with critical injuries. A Ford Explorer and a minivan collided on Military Road South. The 4-year-old girl in the SUV and both people inside the minivan were taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The man driving the Ford Explorer was not injured.
