Authorities say a Nassau County police officer was injured when he was struck by a car while attempting to arrest a robbery suspect in Queens.
Authorities say a Nassau County police officer was injured when he was struck by a car while attempting to arrest a robbery suspect in Queens. Police say four plainclothes Nassau County police officers approached the suspect at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday on Wexford Terrace in Queens. Police say the suspect, who was wanted for an armed robbery in Hicksville on Friday, tried to flee in his vehicle and struck one of the officers, pinning him against another car. Police say another officer fired his weapon, hitting the suspect once in the chest. The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Muhammad Ali, sustained non-life threatening injuries. Charges are pending against Ali. It's not clear if he had a lawyer. Police say the 46-year-old officer is being treated for injuries to both his legs.
