A woman is recovering from serious injuries after she was hit by a car while trying to cross a street. Harris County sheriff's deputies said the woman tried to cross FM 1960 near Cypress Station around 1 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators said the woman was not in the crosswalk at the time she was hit. Officials said a man, who was driving with his wife, did not see the woman and hit her. The driver stopped and waited for officers to arrive at the scene. Investigators said the driver had been drinking, but were not certain if he was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a car Friday Night in Point Loma. The crash occurred at about 8:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Rosecrans Street, according to a watch commander with San Diego police. Officials initially reported the crash as a possible hit-and-run. However, police later discovered the driver in fact went to get help and then returned to the scene.

Metro Police are investigating a fatal crash at Durango Drive and Sahara Avenue. According to police, the crash happened just before 6 p.m. Thursday. Police say a woman was walking eastbound across Durango Drive, outside of a crosswalk, when a Yukon Denali that was heading north on Durango Drive hit her. Witnesses told police the woman walked into the path of the SUV. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Durango Drive was shut down between Starboard Drive and Sahara Avenue for the investigation. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene.

Authorities have identified the woman killed in a fatal pedestrian crash on Wednesday night. According to police, the pedestrian was crossing Highway 50 near the intersection of Anderson Street at approximately 8:50 p.m. when she was struck by a newer model SUV. The woman, identified as 62-year-old Cherokee Moore of Clermont, was pronounced dead on the scene. Police said she was not walking in a crosswalk. It is unclear at this point whether speed was a factor, but the Clermont Police Department continue to investigate.

Metro Police have reopened Spring Mountain Road near Decatur Boulevard following a crash that left a woman pedestrian dead Wednesday morning. The 45-year-old woman was struck and killed by a van shortly before 6 a.m. Police say the woman pedestrian was not in a crosswalk when she was hit. According to police, she was walking with a man who was pushing a shopping cart. He made it to the other side of the street and was yelling to the woman to get out of the road when she was struck. She was taken to University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

A 63-year-old Newport News man was struck and killed Monday by a van while crossing Mercury Boulevard, a police spokeswoman said. The accident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. when Peter Cornetta, of the 6000 block of Jefferson Avenue, was struck by a 1998 Ford Windstar while crossing Mercury Boulevard about 200 feet west of Newmarket Drive, a Newport News Police Department spokesman said in an email. The minivan was traveling in the right lane eastbound on Mercury Boulevard, Eley said.

Houston police are investigating a deadly auto versus pedestrian accident on a Gulf Freeway feeder road. Officials say a 51-year-old man was crossing the feeder road near Broadway Street when he was hit by a pickup truck around 5:30 a.m. Saturday. Police say the victim, who did not use a crosswalk, was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he later died. Authorities say the driver of the pickup stayed at the scene. The driver was questioned by police and released with no charges filed. Houston police say their investigation continues.

Houston police are investigating a fatal accident near the Houston Heights. It happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Yale Street. Police say a 41-year-old man was crossing the street when he was hit by a vehicle. The pedestrian did not use a crosswalk. The driver remained at the scene until emergency crews responded. Officials say the man was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead. No charges have been filed at this time.

Two teenage sisters were injured after a driver struck them early Tuesday morning. A Tampa Police spokesperson says Norma Velasquez-Cabrera, 15, and Victoria Velasquez-Cabrera, 14, just left their apartment in the Meridian Pointe complex and were walking to Middleton High School. As they tried to cross East Hillsborough Avenue, they were hit by a car at 7:15 a.m. Norma is critically injured, Davis said. Their mother rushed to the hospital to be with them.

A man was killed early Sunday morning in Scottsdale after he was struck by a cab while crossing the street, police said. The 45-year-old man had left a restaurant on Scottsdale Road north of McDowell Road and was crossing Scottsdale mid-block, not in a crosswalk, when he was hit by a Yellow Cab that was driving north, a Scottsdale Police Department spokesman said. The man was taken to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center where he died, police said.
