45-year-old woman killed after she is struck by a van while trying to cross Spring Mountain Road in Las Vegas, Nevada

Metro Police have reopened Spring Mountain Road near Decatur Boulevard following a crash that left a woman pedestrian dead Wednesday morning. The 45-year-old woman was struck and killed by a van shortly before 6 a.m. Police say the woman pedestrian was not in a crosswalk when she was hit. According to police, she was walking with a man who was pushing a shopping cart. He made it to the other side of the street and was yelling to the woman to get out of the road when she was struck. She was taken to University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Police did not cite the driver of the van. Both directions of Spring Mountain Road between Decatur and Lindell Road were closed for more than two hours while police investigated. Metro Police say this is the 23rd road fatality this year.
