A 32-year-old woman is facing charges after police say she drove the wrong way down a Long Island street and struck another vehicle, killing a passenger in that car, and then fled the scene. The incident happened just after 4:40 a.m. Monday on Greenwich Avenue in Hempstead. According to detectives, Gregoria Canales-Bonilla was operating a 2000 Ford Explorer when she crossed over the double yellow line, striking a 2008 Ford. A 24-year-old male passenger in the backseat suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident.

Witnesses to a crash on Interstate 95 pulled a woman from a burning pickup truck Monday afternoon, state police said. Amy Strong, 20, of Hampton was driving on I-95 when her 2008 Ford Ranger left the road, struck construction equipment and caught fire around 12:25 p.m., police said. Witnesses smashed out the rear window of the truck and pulled Strong from the fiery wreck, police said. Strong was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious injuries. Police are investigating the crash.

A Minersville man died in a motorcycle accident Monday in Berks County, and his passenger is in serious condition, state police at Reading reported Tuesday. Daniel Joseph Leffew, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at 11:56 p.m. in the 7300 block of Bernville Road in Jefferson Township, police said. The passenger, Tracy Carter, 31, also of Minersville, was taken to Reading Hospital, and police said she was in serious condition. Both were wearing helmets, police said.

State police have identified the woman hit and killed Monday night in the 100 block of N. DuPont Highway (U.S. 13) near New Castle. Kimberly Cag, 38, of Delaware City, was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of North DuPont Highway (U.S.13) from the center median, not within a designated or marked crosswalk. She entered the left lane, directly into the path of a 2002 Mercedes-Benz M50 SUV driven by Christina Bentil, 50, of Bear, Sgt. Paul G. Shavack said.

An 8-year-old girl died in a crash that injured three others on state Highway 85 in Cupertino on Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash was on northbound Highway 85 north of De Anza Boulevard around 3:30 p.m., the CHP said. The driver of a Jeep Wrangler made an unsafe turn to the right that sent the vehicle to the right shoulder and up a raised dirt embankment, according to the CHP. The Jeep Wrangler then struck a Mazda stopped at the right shoulder, the CHP said.

A man suffered serious injuries after crashing his Ford F-150 into a tree Monday afternoon. Around 3:50 p.m. Monday, Michigan State Police were called out to Sidney Road near Nevins Road. They found a 55-year-old Sidney man had crashed his Ford F-150 into a tree. Police determined the driver of the truck was going east on Sidney Road, crossed the westbound lane and struck a tree on the north side of the roadway. The 55-year-old man was the only person in the truck. The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Sheriff's authorities say two people on a motorcycle have died in a collision with a minivan in Portage County. The two people on the motorcycle have been identified as Alexander Reeder, 21, and Katherine Axlen, 20. Both are students at the University of Wisconsin-Steven Point. The crash happened just before 5 p.m. Monday on Highway 66 in the Town of Linwood. Investigators say the minivan failed to yield the right of way and the motorcycle struck the vehicle. The two people on the bike were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified the woman struck while crossing Camp Road in Hamburg Monday night as Jacqueline Dotzler of Batavia. She is in critical condition at Erie County Medical Center. Dotzler was struck by a car in the southbound lane of Camp Road about 9:30 p.m. Monday and was taken to ECMC with what police described as “very serious” injuries, including a head injury. The southbound lanes of Camp Road remained closed to traffic south of Southwestern Boulevard while police investigated the accident.

Two students were injured when their school bus went airborne and crashed Monday afternoon in Hickman County. The bus was on its way from Hickman County Middle School with eight students on board about 4 p.m. when the driver apparently lost control along Primm Springs Road near Williamsport. Sheriff Randal Ward said the bus struck a concrete culvert and came to a rest when it hit a patch of small trees. One student, later identified as Demetria Barner, 17, was transported by medical helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and another was taken to Vanderbilt by ground ambulance.

Two people were hospitalized following an accident at Koval Lane near Harmon Avenue Monday morning. The accident happened shortly after 2 a.m. Police say the victims, 27-year-old Chris Leichtweiss, who was driving, and 19-year-old Tiffany Nelson, who was a passenger, were riding their moped southbound on Koval, when a vehicle rear-ended them. The impact sent the moped forward approximately 300 to 500 feet and caused Leichtweiss and Nelson to become separated from the bike.
