A Norton man was arrested after a car crash in Mansfield resulted in the death of a man Friday night.

Officials responded to a motor vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of Route 140 at around 11:57 p.m., where they say that 23-year-old Nicholas Salvo was traveling at a high speed and ran a red light at the intersection of Norfolk St.

Salvo was placed under arrest and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. He has been charged with motor vehicle homicide, OUI and other traffic-related violations.

A driver on probation for a traffic offense was jailed Saturday on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide in connection with the Friday night death of a Minneapolis mail handler.

Charles R. Lord, 65, died at North Memorial Medical Center at 1:39 a.m. Saturday — 3½ hours after the accident at W. Broadway and Logan Avenue N., according to the Hennepin County medical examiner’s office.

A 32-year-old suspect ran away from the scene after Lord was run over on a sidewalk and the van ran into a building shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, police said.

Two adults and a teen were injured in a fiery crash in Richland Center Friday evening, officials said.

The Richland County Sheriff's Department said deputies responded to a report of a three-vehicle crash on Highway 14 west of County Road B at 6:45 p.m.

A 67-year-old Port Richey man died Friday from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash in Pasco County.

Robert T. Sigmon was pronounced dead at the scene just before 5 p.m.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report the incident occurred near the intersection of Laredo Dr. and State Road 52 in the Bayonet Point community. Jessica Ann Davis was traveling south in her 2004 Dodge Intrepid on Laredo when she proceed into the intersection turning right on SR 52.

A two-vehicle crash in Dallas County claimed the life of a Selma woman on Friday.

Candis Salomon Vice, 34, was killed when the 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe she was driving was struck by a train. The crash occurred on Dallas County Road 939, which is four miles east of Selma.

Vice was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

A pedestrian was killed on Friday after she was struck by an SUV in Elmore County.

According to police, 21-year-old Miranda McGlamery of Eclectic was killed when she was struck by a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 52-year-old Marion Baker of Elmore. The accident occurred on Alabama Highway 14 around mile marker 163 at 3:25 a.m.

McGlamery was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, the driver was not injured.

Nothing further is available at this time as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.

A Topeka motorcyclist who was critically injured Friday in a wreck with a sport utility vehicle in western Shawnee County died Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Shawnee County sheriff’s Deputy Scott Gilchrist said Jerry Johnston, 42, died from injuries he sustained about 5:15 p.m. Friday at S.W. 29th and Indian Hills Road.

Gilchrist said a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer turned in front of the Harley-Davidson, failing to yield to Johnston, who struck the SUV.

A man from the Town of Holley (between Albion and Brockport) was killed in a crash Friday afternoon at West Ridge and Buckman roads in Greece.

On Saturday, police identified the victim as Andrew R. Tarwacki, 39, who was driving a pickup truck when he crashed into a garbage truck Friday afternoon.

The cause of the crash has not been determined, according to Lt. Casey Voelkl of the Greece Police Department. Police and emergency personnel responded to the scene at approximately 1:30 p.m.

The driver of the garbage truck suffered minor injuries, police said.

A woman who was seriously injured Friday evening in a motorcycle crash has died from her injuries.

The motorcycle accident occurred near the intersection of Coconut and Northlake boulevards in suburban West Palm Beach, said Captain Albert Borroto, spokesman for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

The driver, 60-year-old Shari Lynn Carney, was in the far left U-turn lane and struck the raised curb of the center grass median, according to PBSO.

Emergency crews responded a few minutes before 9 p.m. to reports of a motorcycle crash and found Carney lying in the roadway.

An SUV driven by an elderly motorist plowed into a group of people waiting to enter an Orange County ice cream parlor Friday evening, killing a 73-year-old woman and injuring six others, authorities said.

The SUV rammed into people outside Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour shortly after 6 p.m., Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi said. The restaurant in is Buena Park, about 20 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.

Witnesses said the SUV surged forward, hitting a small fence and running into those sitting and standing between the vehicle and the restaurant.
