Troopers say a driver running a stop sign is to blame for a crash on state Route 188 Wednesday night.
According to troopers from the Lancaster post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Mary S. Mathias, 61, of Lancaster, was traveling southbound on state Route 188 in a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero. At the same time, Dallas A. Schilling, 29, of Baltimore was traveling westbound on Highpoint Road in a 2002 Hyundai Accent.
Schilling failed to yield to a stop sign on Highpoint Road at S.R. 188 and struck the side of Mathias' vehicle.
A 20-year-old student from Eastern Michigan University died over the weekend in a vehicle accident in Ohio.
Bianca Bepler’s vehicle was found partially submerged Sunday in the Otter Creek in Oregon, Ohio.
Police said in a news release that it appears the vehicle failed to stop for a flashing red traffic signal on Millard Avenue, crashed through a guardrail and “vaulted off the end of the roadway into the swampy area.” The vehicle, a black Chevrolet Impala, was found overturned east of the intersection of Millard Avenue and Otter Creek Road.
Police have reopened I-70 West on the west side after a crash involving two semis.
At about 2:40 p.m. Columbus police were called to report of a crash on Interstate 70 West near West Broad Street.
Dispatchers said two semis were involved in the crash.
Police reopened the freeway just before 3:30 p.m.
