A small plane crashed Tuesday morning at the Lantana Airport after having problems with its landing gear, according to officials.

At 9:54 a.m. rescue crews responded to the scene and found a twin engine Cessna had landed without its gear down.

The aircraft was on the runway on its belly with two occupants inside.

Witnesses say they saw the aircraft coming into the runway faster than normal.

A 7-year-old boy was flown to a trauma center Monday afternoon after being injured in an all-terrain vehicle rollover in Loxahatchee, said a spokesman for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. The child was flown by Trauma Hawk to St. Mary’s Medical Center, Borroto said. The accident happened a few minutes before 6 p.m. on the 17,700 block of 61st Place North.

One person was transported to the hospital after an SUV crashed sideways into a Publix entranceway in Greenacres Monday morning. Greenacres police and fire crews responded to the storefront at 4849 South Military Trail where an SUV was on its side, up against a cement beam at the entrance of the store. Police did not know what caused the crash but officers say that one person was transported to the hospital for their injuries. They could not confirm if the person transported was the driver of the vehicle or a pedestrian.

A 61-year-old Stuart woman was airlifted to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach Saturday afternoon after the motorcycle on which she was riding was hit by a car, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office said. Daniel J. Casey, 66, of Jupiter was driving south on Seminole Pratt Whitney Road on his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle around 11 a.m. with Anatasia Faulkner riding on the back, according to a sheriff’s report. At the same time Cassidy Rae Campbell, 18, of Loxahatchee was driving west on Banyan Boulevard in her 2000 Pontiac sedan.

The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for a car involved in a fatal crash Saturday morning north of the city limits. A pedestrian was killed around 9 a.m. in the crash at U.S. Route 441 and County Road 68, near Okeechobee Golf & Country Club, said a FHP spokesman. The car is a compact vehicle that was thought to be traveling southbound on U.S. 441. It has damage to its right front side and to its right front amber light. Its right side mirror also is missing, Fletcher said. FHP did not have information on the make, model or color of the vehicle.

Investigators say the man behind the wheel of a monster-sized rolling crane took the right turn from Palm Beach’s post-card-perfect Royal Palm Way and headed in Worth Avenue’s direction not knowing that he had struck a pedestrian as he did it.

The pedestrian’s body got caught in the crane’s second set of front tires and dragged half a block. Police identified the pedestrian as James Brennan, 68, of West Palm Beach.

Nine people, including one with serious injuries, were taken to area hospitals this afternoon after a Palm Tran bus was struck from behind by a dump trunk, a spokesman for West Palm Beach Fire Rescue said.

The crash happened at around 4:30 p.m. near 45th Street and Broadway. It resulted in minor damage to the bus and the truck, said a Fire Rescue spokesman.

Those injured were taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital and West Palm Hospital. Eight had minor injuries, the fire dept. said.

One person flown to Delray Medical Center on Monday night after being injured in a motorcycle crash in suburban Lake Worth, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said.

The crash happened just after 8:30 p.m. near Lyons and Lantana roads. Two cars that were trying to avoid the motorcycle were involved in a subsequent collision, said a Fire Rescue spokesman.

The occupants of those vehicles were not injured, he said.

Two people are dead and three are in the hospital after a driver lost control of his car on Interstate 95 and slammed into a tree just north of Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard Sunday night, Florida Highway Patrol reports.

The crash happened about 10:47 p.m. Jean Claude Denasty, 55, was behind the wheel of a 2009 Toyota Corolla when it crashed. His front seat passenger, Deada Denasty, 45, died at the scene.

Three passengers ages 50 to 66 were in the backseat. The driver and the three backseat passengers were all taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center with serious injuries.

Boca Raton city police are investigating a crash that occurred between a pickup and a Tri-Rail commuter bus that broke down Monday evening, a department spokeswoman said.

The crash happened at at about 7 p.m. on Military Trail, just south of Spanish River Boulevard. Traffic homicide investigators have been called to the scene, which is standard practice for all crashes involving serious injury, said Officer Sandra Boonenberg, spokeswoman for Boca Raton police.
