A teenage bicyclist had to be airlifted to a northwest suburban hospital after she was hit by a car in Crystal Lake Wednesday evening.

The 17-year-old girl was riding a bicycle southbound on Westport Ridge at its intersection with Ackman Road when she was struck by a 2006 Lexus driven by a 20-year-old Lakewood woman about 5:50 p.m., according to a statement from Crystal Lake police Cmdr. Dan Dzewior.

The girl was ejected to the pavement from her bike, which was run over by the car, Dzewior said.
