A 19-year-old man was killed in a one-car rollover Monday night in the Yelm area, and the driver was arrested in connection with his death. The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office reports the rollover occurred around 9 p.m. June 24 in the 15800 block of Bald Hill Road Southeast. Investigators say the vehicle rolled onto its top after trying to navigate a sharp curve. The male occupant of a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
A car involved in a fatal crash crossed the center line, crashed off another vehicle and was hit hard enough by an oncoming truck to launch the car's engine 50 feet. The driver was identified as 22-year-old Kyle Pike of Puyallup. A police officer saw the car traveling at high speed Sunday night on Pacific Highway East. Two people in other vehicles were injured. The two people who died in a two-car head on collision near Maltby in Snohomish County on Monday have been identified as Redmond residents Joan S. Kinger, 76, and Stanley Kinger, 79. Authorities say Joan Kinger was pronounced dead at the scene and Stanley Kinger died later at the hospital. Injured in the crash was the driver a Mitsubishi Eclipse that the state patrol believes caused the accident, 24-year-old Gerardo Martinez-Urrutia of Monroe.
A man who died in a Sunday accident in Auburn was Josh M. Colson, the co-owner of Auburn Brake and Muffler. He was in the passenger seat of a vehicle headed south on Auburn Way North, when it crashed into a power pole just after 2 a.m. This was a single-vehicle accident. Colson did not appear to be wearing a seat belt, and died at the scene. The woman driving the car was listed in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Both Colson and driver are in their early 40s. Future vehicular homicide charges are possible, he said.
Vancouver Fire Capt. Gregg Roberts has died from injuries he sustained in a car crash on Friday afternoon. His car rolled off the road at about 1:30 p.m. on June 6 as Roberts was heading east on Ward Road, Fire Chief Joe Molina said. "He was the driver, and he was ejected," Molina said. He died at about 10:30 p.m. Friday night from his injuries. Roberts leaves behind a wife and three children. The department and the family plan to meet Monday to discuss funeral arrangements, Molina said. Roberts was hired by the department in 2004 and promoted to Captain in 2010.
The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office reports that a man was killed in a two-vehicle collision Friday in the Yelm area. Around 2:30 a.m. June 6, deputies responded to a collision on Bald Hill Road Southeast and 122nd Lane Southeast. A 25-year-old man was driving northbound on Bald Hill Road when his vehicle crossed the center line and crashed into a vehicle in the opposite lane. The driver died at the scene, and the driver of the second vehicle – a 68-year-old man – was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Speed was a factor in the collision.
The Mason County Sheriff's Office said it appears that alcohol and possibly marijuana were factors in a crash that killed two people Sunday morning. Mason County Coroner Wes Stockwell identified the dead as David Michael Dudley Jr., 19, of Bremerton, and Alena J. Pepi, 18, of Port Orchard. One person was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the crash. The Mason County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened off Forest Service Road 23. The Sheriff's Office said five people were in the back bed of the pick-up, which was traveling at a high speed.
