A 5-year-old girl died in a car wreck Saturday night in Lapwai, Idaho.
Maya J. Martinez was killed when a 2006 Jeep Commander driven by Bianca G. Sekayouma, 38, failed to negotiate a curve on U.S. 95. The vehicle struck a utility pole and rolled multiple times.
Sekayouma, Maya Martinez and 7-year-old Mia N. Martinez, all Lapwai residents, were ejected from the vehicle. Neither the woman nor the two children were wearing seat belts, the Idaho State Police said.
Sekayouma and Mia Martinez were injured and taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
An Omak man faces a vehicular homicide charge after an ATV accident Saturday night that left his passenger dead. The victim, Charity R. Rumbolz, 24, of Omak, was found dead early today in Conconully Lake. Cain M. Bivins, 33, was booked into the Okanogan County Jail. Alcohol was a factor in the accident. Bivins was driving the ATV on Sinlahekin Road along the upper reservoir of Conconully Lake when he lost control on a sharp corner. The ATV went over a 100-foot cliff and into the water. Bivins was ejected but Rumbolz, who was wearing a seat belt, sunk with the ATV in about 30 feet of water.
A young man from Hart died in a single-car crash early Saturday morning, April 5. Lt. Craig Mast of the Oceana County Sheriff's office said that law enforcement officers responded about 5 a.m. to the scene of the crash involving 23-year-old Jordan Evans. It appears Evans had been traveling on East Taylor Road between 122nd and 128th avenues, when the car he was driving, a 2006 Chevy Silverado, left the roadway and struck a tree. Evans was fatally injured in the crash, Mast said. "Alcohol is believed to be a factor," Mast said.
A Marana woman was killed and her young son was injured in a crash last Friday near Red Rock.
Susana Lopez, 33, of Marana was killed her 5-year-old son was injured, according to information from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office released late yesterday. The boy, who was in a child-safety seat, suffered a cut on his head.
