A girl in a stroller was critically injured after being hit by a car in the parking lot of a hospital early Wednesday morning. Her mother was also injured, and the driver was charged with DWI. Melissa Flynn and her daughter Aubrey were injured around 2:45 a.m. at the Alamance Regional Medical Center emergency room off Huffman Mill Road. Both were rushed to the nearby emergency room, which was their intended destination before the collision, Burlington police said.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a bus crash on the Westside, after a school bus rear-ended an SUV Wednesday morning. According to a FHP report, the school bus was traveling eastbound on 103rd Street at Old Middleburg Road, when the traffic in front of the bus stopped. The bus failed to stop and rear-ended a GMC Envoy. The crash happened at 8:15 a.m. and there were no students on the bus at the time, according to FHP. A spokesperson with Duval County Public Schools said the bus was assigned to Jefferson Davis Middle School and no injuries were reported.

A tractor-trailer carrying about 6,000 gallons of liquid asphalt has struck a tractor mowing the median on westbound Interstate 40 in Pender County. The Pender County Emergency Management Director said the mower operator drifted into the roadway and into the path of the 18-wheeler around 1 p.m. Tuesday. He said the man was thrown about 30 feet by the impact. Collins said the unidentified driver was conscious when he was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

A tractor-trailer headed north on I-81 ran off the left side of the interstate after hitting a piece of guardrail in the road. The guardrail was damaged in another tractor-trailer crash that happened earlier in the day.

According to Virginia State Police, hitting the guardrail that was in the road caused the tractor-trailer to run off the left side of the road and into the median. The tractor-trailer continued down between the northbound and southbound lanes of I-81 in the median until it hit the edge of a bridge.

A motorcyclist was severely injured Tuesday evening in an accident on Richmond Avenue, just outside the NYPD's 121st Precinct stationhouse in Graniteville.

The motorcycle rider was transported to Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze, in critical condition, police said.

About a dozen other motorcyclists on the scene said they knew the victim but declined to comment on the accident. They appeared to gather some of the victim's belongings, including a helmet.

Police say an arrest has been made in connection with a Tuesday night hit-and-run that sent an 18-year-old woman to the hospital.

Marquita Afzal, 42, was taken into custody about 9:30 p.m. after a woman crossing Woodland Avenue at East 55th Street was struck by a passing Cadillac CTS, according to officials.

The Cadillac fled, but police caught up with the car near Woodland Avenue and East 40th Street. Afzal was at the wheel, police said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center with head and face injuries, police said.

One person was killed after being struck by a vehicle in west Charlotte, according to Medic.

The incident happened on the 3200 block of Wilkinson Boulevard near Donald Ross Road around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The pedestrian, 55-year-old Ronald Renel Vance, was killed as he was trying to cross Wilkinson Boulevard from the Wal-Mart to get to his home, police say.

He was hit by a 2012 Hyundai Sonata being driven by 33-year-old Leah Gatewood.

One person was killed and another injured in a car accident in southwest Charlotte Tuesday evening.

The wreck happened near the intersection of Tryon Street and Tyvola Road in southwest Charlotte around 8:30 p.m.

Police confirmed that 39-year-old Ramez Ahmed Shams Eldin, was killed in the crash, and 50-year-old Michael Perrella was taken to an area hospital.

Police say Perrella was speeding and hit Eldin's Jeep from the rear with his Ford Expedition, causing both to spin out of control.

Police responded to Whitney Avenue at Michigan Street after a report of a 13-year-old who was hit while riding his bicycle.

Police say the minivan was heading north on Whitney Avenue when the teen rode out into the street. The boy said he did not look both ways before crossing the street. Police say the driver tried to stop, but couldn't in time.

Police say the child is responsive, but suffered a broken leg, broken arm, and some scratches and bumps on the head.
