Fire department members have found their former chief dead after a car accident in northern Iowa.

The crash occurred early Saturday on a rural highway west of Austinville in Butler County.

Officials say a car driven by 59-year-old Keith Oelmann ran off a bridge and rolled. The Aplington Fire Department responded to the accident call. The current chief says firefighters didn't realize their former chief was involved until they found his body.

The crash is being investigated.

A small plane has crashed in an empty field near a shopping center south of Denver, leaving one person dead.

A Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy said the victim of the Saturday afternoon crash was believed to be the pilot, the only person believed to be aboard. Teller said his department had no reports of anyone on the ground being injured. He said it was not yet clear from where the plane took off or where it was headed. The pilot was later identified as James Peoples, 60.

Two teens were killed, and two more were injured, in a Saturday morning wreck in Wilkes County, according to a published report.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol, stated that Damon Bradley Anderson, 18, and Malik Maxwell Patterson, 16, both of North Wilkesboro, were killed in the crash.

The crash happened on Haymeadow Road in Hays.

A 50-year-old woman died after car crashed into another vehicle on Saturday, police said.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of MLK and Cartier. North Las Vegas police say the woman was driving a jeep when she collided with another car.

She was taken to UMC Trauma where she died. Police say there was an 11-year-old in the jeep with her who suffered minor injuries.

A 19-year-old was driving the car and was not injured in the wreck.

An Irving woman faces intoxication manslaughter charges after a Saturday night car crash that killed two of her children and injured two others.

Irving police said Crystal Suniga, 30, lost control of her sport utility vehicle and slammed into two parked cars across from Gilbert Elementary School in the 1500 block of East Pioneer Drive at around 8 p.m.

Police spokesman James McLellan said Suniga's two sons — identified by family members as 14-year-old Angel Reyes and 10-year-old Ricardo Hernandez — were dead at the scene.

Spanish Fort man has been released from jail on bond after his arrest in connection with a weekend fatal accident.

Danny Pylant, 57, of the 9600 block of Kingfisher Court, is suspected in an accident that claimed the life of a 44-year-old Tennessee man in Orange Beach, police said.

The victim, later identified as Taylor Colby, 44, was walking near Caribe Resort, 28103 Perdido Beach Blvd., when he was hit Saturday night.

A woman is behind bars and charged in a hit and run crash that killed a 59-year-old man from the Orange Mound community.

Curteria Leuellyn, 21, will face a judge Monday on a list of charges including vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police say Leuellyn was driving a Chevrolet Malibu she borrowed from a friend Saturday night. According to officers, she was driving on Deadrick Avenue near Hugenot Street, when she ran off the road and hit 59-year-old Curtis Echols on the sidewalk.

A Bloomington woman was charged Saturday with aggravated drunken driving after an early morning, two-car accident near Main and Empire streets that sent four people to the hospital, including one who was critically injured.

Witnesses told police Jamie Webb, 37, of the 500 block of West Grove Street, was westbound on Empire when she ran a red light at an estimated 45 mph to 60 mph and hit another car. All four of the occupants of the other vehicle were hospitalized, according a court record released by the McLean County state's attorney's office.

Authorities say a man is dead after he lost control of his vehicle on a wet road early Saturday morning.

Troopers say 26-year-old Addison James Kaylid was traveling northbound on Aviation Parkway around 4:20 a.m. when he took the ramp to Interstate 540 east and lost control.

Officials say he was traveling at a high rate speed when he drove off the road, struck a tree, and his Ford SUV erupted into flames.

Kaylid died at the scene. Troopers say he was the only person in the vehicle and no other cars were involved.
