The Dodge, owned by Cinci Motor of Maineville, Ohio, was driven by Zaza Eristavi, 41, of Fairfield, Ohio, when it hit the back of the empty trailer, causing the straps securing the cars to the trailer to break, ISP said. The three vehicles on top “were catapulted off the trailer,” with one landing on the trailer and cab of the empty semi; a second vehicle landing on its roof in the grass; and the third landing in the left lane, ISP said.

Raleigh-Durham, NCPolice do not know why a Durham man drove his Toyota south in the northbound lanes of the Durham Freeway and hit an oncoming vehicle, killing himself and injuring three other men.
John Michael Williams, 59, was driving around 9 p.m. Tuesday in the wrong direction on N.C. 147, also known as the Durham Freeway, when he collided head-on with a northbound Jeep driven by Jimmy Allen, 25, of Hillsborough.
Williams was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police spokeswoman Kammie Michael.

Raleigh-Durham, NCPolice are looking for a white Toyota pickup with blue lettering on its side because they think it was the vehicle that collided with a moped and fled the scene.
They have asked the public’s help after being unable to track down the truck since the accident happened Tuesday evening, sending the moped rider to a hospital with serious injuries.
The truck is a mid- to late-2000s model and is probably still missing its right side mirror and radio antenna.
It was last seen fleeing west on U.S. 70 from N.C. 50 after the crash at N.C. 50 and Umstead Lane, police said.

Monday, March 24, 2014A 25-year-old woman has been charged by Hampton police after they said she drove into a barber shop Tuesday morning.
Gracielle Garnett, of the 400 block of Riverdale Drive in Hampton, has been charged with reckless driving in connection to the incident, Hampton Police Division spokesman Sgt. Jason Price said in an email.
Police said Garnett was in the parking lot of Kingdom Kids Child Care in the 700 block of West Mercury Boulevard when she accelerated in her Chevrolet Blazer, lost control and hit First Class Barber Salon at 1 Riverdale Drive.

Trenton-NJAuthorities have released the name of the man who was struck and killed while leaning over a train platform at a New Jersey station, splattering four others with parts of his body.
NJ Transit spokesman John Durso Jr. says witnesses reported 50-year-old Frank Farriella of Middlesex was leaning in the path of the oncoming train at the New Brunswick station platform when he was struck Tuesday.
About 300 people were aboard the New York-bound Northeast Corridor train.

Seattle-Tacoma, WAEight people have been injured, one seriously, in multiple crashes that involved nearly two dozen vehicles on southbound Interstate 5 and created a backup that at one point stretched for 10 miles. Washington state troopers and tow trucks worked to clear the area and three southbound lanes had reopened by late Tuesday afternoon. All in all, 20 vehicles were involved. Weather may have been a factor, and the crash involved the dangerous combination of rain, sunbreak and reflection on wet roads.

Houston, TXA street racing crash on Tuesday in Sunnyside killed one person and injured several others, police said.
Two cars were apparently racing about 2 p.m. in the 9100 block of southbound Scott when one of the drivers lost control and struck a tree, authorities said.
Police said one of the people in a Pontiac Grand Prix was thrown from the car and died.
At least five others were taken to Ben Taub General Hospital and Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Their conditions weren't known later Tuesday.

Jackson, MSA pedestrian is dead after a two car accident on Highway 51 near Crystal Springs. "I was waiting for the flag man to release me so I can pass and a truck came over a hill and hit me from the back and pushed me in the ditch. My car ran over the flag man," says the driver of the Chevrolet Caprice that hit 39-year-old Garvin Barnes. The driver doesn't want his name released.
Barnes was directing traffic while workers were paving Highway 51. He works for Dickerson and Barnes Asphalt Paving Company.

Madison, WIAn 18-year-old Oregon woman will be ticketed for her role in a head-on crash Tuesday morning in the Town of Dunn that injured her and another driver.
The crash occurred just before 8 a.m. at Highway B at White Oak Trail when Danielle Waldvogel, 18, crossed the centerline and crashed head-on into a vehicle traveling the opposite direction, according to a Dane County sheriff's office news release.
The driver of the other car, Ruth Drage, 54, of Middleton had to be extricated from her vehicle by Oregon firefighters, officials said.

Hartford & New Haven, CTA 64-year-old West Hartford teacher has died after her car and a school bus crashed at Boulevard and Mountain Road in West Hartford this morning, according to West Hartford police.
Police had to extricate the driver, Patricia Rossoff, 64, of West Hartford, who was pronounced dead at UConn Medical Center.
She was a teacher at Kingswood Oxford School, police said. School officials said she was with Kingswood Oxford for 39 years.
She was a creative arts and modern languages teacher, as well as academic dean of humanities.
