A 39-year-old Hamburg man who was pulled from his car Wednesday night in a ravine off Route 62 just south of Webster Road in the Town of Eden was arraigned today on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Terrence A. Klodzinski pleaded not guilty before Eden Town Justice Melissa Zittel and was remained to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $5,000 bail. Police were called about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday and found Klodzinski in his vehicle in the ravine. Eden Fire Department crews and EDEN EMS rescued him and he was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Two motorcyclists died Thursday evening when a car turned into their path in Putnam County. The crash occurred around 6 p.m. Wednesday on State Road 100 at State Road 26, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Lon Seibert, 57, was driving a car on State Road 100 and intended to turn onto Putnam Loop Road. Elbert Peace, 64, was riding a motorcycle westbound on State Road 100 and approached the intersection. Troopers say Seibert turned left in front of the motorcycle Peace's motorcycle hit Seibert's car.

A Vancouver man who is suspected of drunk driving was injured in a single-vehicle crash on state Highway 14 in Skamania County Wednesday evening. Robert A. Haverkate, 59, was driving a 2000 Jeep Cherokee west on the highway about 7:15 p.m. five miles west of North Bonneville, when the Jeep left the roadway and went into a drainage ditch, according to a memo issued by the Washington State Patrol. The vehicle then returned to the roadway, crossed the highway and struck the eastbound guardrail which caused it to overturn, according to the memo. The vehicle came to rest on the center line.

One person was killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer unit on Route 9 in Chesterfield on Wednesday night. According to authorities, the tractor-trailer slid off the side of the road and into the snow-covered embankment. Officers think the driver tried to get out of the truck, and when they arrived, they found him pinned underneath the vehicle. Rescue crews tried to extricate the driver, but were unsuccessful and he died on scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office confirms that 39-year-old Francisca Campbell of Lincoln died from her injuries following an accident near Plymouth Wednesday night. Sheriff's officials say Campbell was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 40-year-old Steven Cordis of Ohiowa. Cordis was westbound on 724 Road, one mile north of Plymouth, when he ran a stop sign and failed to yield the right of way to a car driven by 60-year-old Mary Pearson of Dewitt. Pearson's vehicle struck Cordis's Dodge Avenger on the passenger side.

A Parma woman killed in a massive pileup on the Ohio turnpike was a victim of the first of two crashes that closed the highway Wednesday afternoon, the Ohio Highway Patrol said. Three people were killed after an accident in Sandusky County caused a chain reaction that resulted in a pileup that stretched over more than a mile of roadway and involved nearly 50 vehicles, the patrol said Thursday. The pile-up included two severe crash zones, the patrol said.

A car with four juveniles inside was speeding on Route 119 before getting into a crash that killed two of them and injured two others Wednesday afternoon, state police said. The Fayette County coroner said Trevor McFadden, 16, and De'Andre Jones, 17, died in the wreck that happened just before 3 p.m. on Route 119 in South Union Township. According to police, witnesses said the car was speeding when the driver lost control near the exit for Walnut Hill Road and hit a vehicle in the oncoming lane.

One man is dead and a 15-year-old driver is in custody after a scooter and motor vehicle collided in Mesa. The accident at Alma School and University was initially treated as a hit-and-run. Mesa police say the unidentified teen appears to have only had a learner's permit to drive and could be facing charges for fleeing the scene after the Wednesday afternoon accident. The name of the victim, who was in his 20s, has not yet been released.

A man is recovering at a Kalamazoo hospital after he and a woman were struck by a vehicle Tuesday night. Around 8 p.m. Tuesday, a man and woman were walking in a Battle Creek roadway when they were both struck. The accident happened in the intersection of E Roosevelt Ave and Garrison Ave in Battle Creek. Battle Creek Police say the woman was treated and released from a Battle Creek hospital. The man is currently in stable condition at a Kalamazoo hospital.

Ohio Turnpike officials are stopping drivers from getting on the toll road at several interchanges after a series of pileups shut it down. The State Highway Patrol says two people died and a trooper was seriously injured in snowy crashes involving at least 50 vehicles on the turnpike. A turnpike spokesman says they hope to open one eastbound lane of traffic around 6 p.m. Pileups stretched across a 2-mile section in the eastbound lanes of the toll road Wednesday afternoon between Toledo and Cleveland. Turnpike spokesman Adam Greenslade says traffic there is backed up just over seven miles.
