The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office confirms that 39-year-old Francisca Campbell of Lincoln died from her injuries following an accident near Plymouth Wednesday night. Sheriff's officials say Campbell was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 40-year-old Steven Cordis of Ohiowa. Cordis was westbound on 724 Road, one mile north of Plymouth, when he ran a stop sign and failed to yield the right of way to a car driven by 60-year-old Mary Pearson of Dewitt. Pearson's vehicle struck Cordis's Dodge Avenger on the passenger side. Campbell was airlifted to a Lincoln hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she passed away Wednesday night. Pearson, whose vehicle spun in the roadway and hit a power pole, was transported to Beatrice Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Cordis was checked at the scene and refused treatment, leaving the scene under his own power. Jefferson County Attorney Linda Bauer is awaiting further details from the Sheriff's Office before continuing the investigation. She says charges will likely be filed against Cordis.
