Two people were injured in a hit-and-run accident that took place around 6:04 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of Oakland Park Boulevard in Port Orange. Dean Warmkessel, 66, and his wife Donna Warmkessel, 63, were believed to be attempting to cross the street when they were struck by the vehicle that subsequently fled the scene. The only description of the vehicle at this time is a loud muffler and a possible missing antenna. The extent of the damage is unknown. The couple was taken to Halifax Medical Center where Dean was treated in ICU and Donna is said to have non-life threatening injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol has arrested a Zephyr Hills man and three of his family members in connection with a head-on hit-and-run crash that sent a Pasco County Sheriff's Office deputy to the hospital. Deputy Darren Hill, 29, of Wesley Chapel was seriously injured when his cruiser was hit by a F-150 Ford truck in Wesley Chapel area early Wednesday morning, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

A 20-year-old Bay area man was seriously injured Saturday morning when he was hit by a vehicle while walking along Bee Ridge Rd. in Sarasota. David Adam Cornell was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where he is listed in serious condition. According to a Florida Highway Patrol report the incident occurred just after 5 a.m. just west of Center Gate Blvd. Investigators say Cornell, a Sarasota resident, was walking on the sidewalk when the unidentified vehicle left the roadway, went up on the sidewalk and hit him.

Investigators with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office are gathering information in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred late Friday in Seffner. A 25-year-old Texas man was found dead on the side of South Parsons Ave., approximately ¼-mile south of Old East Hillsborough Ave. Thomas Dean Woods had been hit by a vehicle. According to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office report a motorist passing by called 9-1-1 just after midnight to report a man laying in the grass. Deputies determined Woods died as the result of a hit-and run and quickly blocked all traffic in the area.

Fort Lauderdale Police said they are looking for a driver responsible for critically injuring a pedestrian in a hit-and-run incident early Thursday. The crash occurred on the 600 block of West Broward Boulevard at about 12:27 a.m. Investigators said Daniel Francis Driscoll, 53, was trying to cross the boulevard, but he was not in a crosswalk at the time, police said. Driscoll was hit by the driver’s side view mirror and fell to the ground. Police believe the driver left the scene driving westbound on West Broward Boulevard and was driving a 1996-2000 model four-door green Honda Civic.

A driver is behind bars and a pedestrian is in critical condition after a hit-and-run crash in Lauderdale Lakes Sunday morning. According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, the 28-year-old man was walking in the area of West Oakland Park Boulevard and State Road 7 around 1:30 a.m. when he was struck by a car that fled the scene. The man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of family, was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center in critical condition, the BSO said.

A 12-year-old girl who was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Hallandale Beach last week has died of her injuries, police said Monday. Shania Jackson died Sunday as a result of the injuries she suffered in the Nov. 18 incident, Hallandale Beach Police said. According to police, witnesses said Jackson was crossing the road in the 600 block of Forester Road when a car swerved toward her. Jackson was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The driver hasn't been found. Police said they are pursuing leads in the case and are requesting assistance from the public.

Authorities say Delgado was behind the wheel of a Ferrari that collided with two cars on I-75 just north of Northwest 138th Street. Jorge Arrojas, 60, was killed in the crash, while Miguel Larrieu was left seriously injured.
