A driver is behind bars and a pedestrian is in critical condition after a hit-and-run crash in Lauderdale Lakes Sunday morning. According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, the 28-year-old man was walking in the area of West Oakland Park Boulevard and State Road 7 around 1:30 a.m. when he was struck by a car that fled the scene. The man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of family, was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center in critical condition, the BSO said. After numerous media reports, a tip came in that led authorities to 26-year-old Ryan Reed Kaufman, of Delray Beach, the BSO said. Kaufman later admitted to driving the vehicle that struck the pedestrian, the BSO said. Kaufman doesn't have a valid driver's license and isn't the registered owner of the car, which has damage and evidence consistent with hitting a pedestrian, the BSO said.
