14-year-old Lily Rhodes was riding on ATV with three friends at a birthday party when something, possibly a hole in the terrain, caused the vehicle to flip and eject all occupants. Of those involved, Rhodes sustained the worst injuries and had to have most of her arm amputated, though she should make a good recovery otherwise. One other girl on the ATV also had some serious injuries, and remains in the hospital with a broken vertebrae. What personal injury victims need to know:

Merna Spein was riding an ATV in Lower Kalskag when a collision caused her to be thrown from her vehicle. She suffered head injuries and was transported to a local medical center, but she entered cardiac arrest within 15 minutes of arrival at the medical center and was pronounced dead soon there after. Troopers believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash, but few details about the incident have been released.

25-year-old Ethan R. Felshaw was driving a Yamaha ATV on Meyer Road when he somehow lost control and collided with two trees. He was thrown from the vehicle, and pronounced dead after being brought to the hospital via ambulance. Investigation continues to determine the cause of the accident.

20-year-old James C. Campbell was doing private contract work on the Canadian Pacific Railroad on Thursday morning, and was driving an ATV when a magnetic boom used to lift rail spikes lost control and swung into the vehicle. It caused the vehicle to overturn, and Campbell was ejected and died at the scene of a head injury.

14-year-old Joel Stephen Howell was riding an ATV to the north on Jaguar Drive at about 7:45 a.m. when he failed to properly negotiate a curve in the road, hit the curb, and was ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet, sustained critical injuries, and has since been transported to UF Health Jacksonville.

Michael P. McCarty was driving a UTV on Nolan Road when he made a left turn onto Cole Road and three passengers in the rear utility box fell from the UTV. Brian K. Barney, 50, Jamie L. White, 32, and Darryl J. Walker, 37, all fell from the UTV. White and Walker were not injured, and McCarty and a passenger in the front seat of the UTV was not injured. Barney was taken to Upstate Medical Center where he died of head injuries sustained in the crash. No one on the UTV was wearing a helmet.

A father and son were riding two separate ATVs on Polk County Road 81 while on vacation from Huntsville. The boy was driving one of the ATVs when it ran into the back of the vehicle driven by his father. The boy was ejected and died at the scene.

Mark Jagodzinski was driving an ATV on Grove Street when he collided with a Kia Sedan, causing the ATV to flip over, ejecting Jagodzinski. The driver of the Kia has not yet been identified. Stamford Police is asking for anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call them at 203-977-4712.

Kimberly Charles Hopkins of Mesa died Saturday when the UTV he was driving rolled and landed on top of him in Queen Valley in Pinal County. Hopkins was driving a 2-passenger UTV with three girls when the right-side tires went off the side of North Whitlow Dam Road around 6 p.m. The vehicle rolled between 15 and 20 feet down a hillside, and three young girls were ejected. The UTV landed on top of Hopkins, killin ghim.

On Sunday evening, Terry Killings Jr., 28, of Wildwood, was driving an ATV on County Road 235 northwest of Wildwood when he swerved to avoid hitting a child who ran into a Sumter County road. He then struck two people standing on the side of the road, killing Jakhyrian Graham, 2, of Wildwood, and seriously  injuring Johnny L. Williams, 56, of Leesburg. The toddler was transported to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, where he died. Williams was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center. Killings Jr. was ejected from the ATV and was taken to the Ocala hospital with serious injuries.
