The driver and three passengers in the Volvo were transported to Mercy San Juan Medical Center, where Deadra Griffin, 60, the passenger in the front seat, died of her injuries. The driver suffered a fractured hip, while one passenger in the back seat suffered a fractured vertebrae and the other passenger complained of pain to his entire body, according to the CHP.

Two people died in a 4-vehicle pileup that was caused by a hit-and-run crash Thursday night. The crash happened at 7:45 p.m. at the intersection of West Lane and Frontage Road in Stockton. Stockton police said a white Honda SUV was going northbound on West Lane when it ran a red light and crashed into an Acura. The Acura then crashed into two other cars driving near the intersection. It is unclear what direction the cars were traveling when the crash happened. Sokhunthear Hin, 18, and Ritche Rasmee 20, who were inside the Acura, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A suspected drunken driver has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter in the death of a 27-year-old woman who was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Del Mar, authorities said Saturday. Rachel Anne Morrison and a friend were walking eastbound in a crosswalk at the intersection of Camino Del Mar and Coast Boulevard about 10:15 p.m. Friday when Christopher Stockmeyer, 41, allegedly ran a stop sign and struck her at a high rate of speed, according to sheriff's officials and the county Medical Examiner's Office.

A driver ran a red light at Columbus Drive and Nebraska Avenue intersection in Tampa and hit a school security officer's car, Tampa Police officers said. The driver didn't stop after the crash. School Security Officer Alejandro Claudio, 41, was going south on Nebraska Avenue when he was hit on the passenger's side by the suspect's 2003 silver Infinity SUV at the intersection with East Columbus Drive. The Infinity ran the red light and kept going after the hit. The security officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to Tampa General Hospital for observation.

A 29-year-old man was killed after a hit-and-run driver blew a stop sign and crashed into his car early Wednesday in Staten Island, cops said. Felipe Avila was driving a 1996 Toyota Celica north along Lafayette Ave. in New Brighton when a white 2003 Volvo S80 going east on Cassidy Place didn’t stop and slammed into him just after 5 a.m. Wednesday, cops said. The Volvo’s driver then slammed into a parked Dodge SUV. The driver stopped only to ditch his ride and run away. Avila died en route to Richmond University Medical Center, cops said.

A teenage bicyclist was in critical condition Thanksgiving night after a hit-and-run driver struck him in Long Beach, authorities said. The crash was reported shortly before 5 p.m. near 61st Street and Linden Avenue (map), according to a spokesperson for the Long Beach Fire Department. A 15-year-old boy was riding his bike west on 61st Street when he rode through a stop sign and was struck by a light-colored sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima, traveling north on Linden Avenue, authorities said.
