2 women hospitalized after South Los Angeles hit-and-run

The women suffered moderate injuries when their Toyota Matrix was struck around 1:30 a.m. by a Toyota Camry that ran a red light at the intersection of South Vermont Avenue and West Century Boulevard, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Hendley Hawkins.

The owner of the Camry was a backseat passenger at the time of the collision, Hawkins said. The driver was “an acquaintance” who ran from the vehicle after the accident and remained at large.

The two women were hospitalized following the hit- and-run accident in the Vermont Vista neighborhood of South Los Angeles.
