A Canyons School District school bus crashed at the roundabout at Sage Hollow Drive at around 7:15 a.m. Thursday morning. The bus left the roadway right as it was entering the roundabout, damaging several trees and a street sign. No one on the bus was injured. The bus driver is believed to have been driving under the influence.
Moon Lake Electric Association crews responded to an 11:30 p.m. report of a power outage when they discovered that it had been caused by a power pole that had been sheared off when a driver went off 5500 East in a rural area just south of Bottle Hollow Reservoir. The car was about 270 feet from the pole. Moon Lake crews called 911 and pulled a 2-year-old boy out of the wrecked car through the sunroof.
Stringfellow and her passenger were driving on Interstate 15 when she tried to pass a bus by pulling into the right lane and lost control of the vehicle. The car rolled down a steep bank and hit a tree. Neither teen was wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Stringfellow was declared dead at the scene and the passenger was flown via helicopter to a hospital where she is listed in critical condition.
Friday night at about 8:20pm, a 39-year-old man called police to report that after a rollover crash near the summit of Indian Canyon, his step-son was pinned under the vehicle. The teen remained pinned until rescuers freed him and he was airlifted to Primary Children's Hospital in stable condition. Neither of the two passengers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
