Uintah County woman killed, 2-year-old injured in crash

Power was restored about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Moon Lake Electric Association crews responded to an 11:30 p.m. report of a power outage when they discovered that it had been caused by a power pole that had been sheared off when a driver went off 5500 East in a rural area just south of Bottle Hollow Reservoir. The car was about 270 feet from the pole. Moon Lake crews called 911 and pulled a 2-year-old boy out of the wrecked car through the sunroof. After emergency responders reached the scene, the toddler was airlifted to a Wasatch Front hospital with multiple injuries, including broken bones, according to Uintah County Undersheriff John Laursen. The driver, Marissa Duffy of Fort Duchesne, was pronounced dead at the scene.
