A motorcyclist, Seaman Jaron Tinsley, died in a crash involving a tow truck on south Interstate 805 just north of state Route 15 Tuesday, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash was reported about 3:50 p.m., and four of the freeway’s six lanes were closed, CHP Officer Mary Bailey said. They were expected to remain closed for at least an hour.

A 19-year-old man was killed early Tuesday in a fiery, high speed crash off a street near Shadowridge Plaza shopping center.

The northbound Chevrolet Camaro careened off the roadway in the 1300 block of Sycamore Avenue in Vista about 1:30 a.m., a sheriff's Sgt. said. The vehicle rolled over, then hit an electrical box and light pole and burst into flames.

Firefighters discovered the body of the driver while extinguishing the blaze, according to the county Medical Examiner's Office.

The Vista resident's name was withheld pending family notification.

A pedestrian suffered a head injury Monday morning when he was struck by a car in Barrio Logan, San Diego police said.

The man was rushing to catch a bus when the accident happened just before 6 a.m. at South 30th and Main streets, police said. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital for his injuries.

The driver who hit the man stopped, police said.

Traffic on Main was snarled in both directions during the accident investigation.

Police are investigating a head-on crash in Mission Valley Monday night involving a suspected drunken driver that left four people, including a pregnant woman, injured. The collision on Hotel Circle South near Taylor Street was reported about 10:10 p.m., San Diego police said. A 43-year-old man driving a Ford F-150 was heading west when he drifted across the road and slammed into a Nissan Versa, police said.

A motorcyclist died after crashing into a vehicle early Sunday morning, El Cajon police said.

The collision was reported near West Washington and Van Houten avenues about 5:55 a.m., police said in a news release.

The motorcycle was headed west on Washington Avenue when a vehicle turned from east Washington onto north Van Houten in front of the rider, the release said. The motorcyclist wasn't able to stop and crashed into the vehicle.

A series of crashes triggered by an alleged drunken driver left three men dead and five other people injured, including a man who was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, the California Highway Patrol said Saturday.

The suspected drunken driver, a San Diego man, was driving north from Interstate 805 onto the transition ramp to westbound state Route 52 when he lost control, according to the CHP.

The vehicle veered off the right side of the road, careened across a dirt embankment and rolled several times, a CHP dispatcher said.

A motorcyclist was killed Thursday afternoon in a fiery collision on Interstate 8 in Mission Valley, authorities said.

The eastbound motorcycle crashed into a car near Mission Center Road shortly after 4 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. Both vehicles then became engulfed in flames.

Passers-by stopped and performed CPR on the downed rider before the arrival of paramedics, who declared the victim dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

An investigation was under Friday into a head-on crash in rural East San Diego County that killed a suspected drunken driver and left a 48-year-old Humbolt woman hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The crash occurred on Church Road, south of Old Highway 80, late Thursday afternoon, according to a California Highway Patrol Office.

The California Highway Patrol said a multi-vehicle crash on state Route 76 at Airport Road snarled traffic Wednesday morning in Oceanside.

The wreck occurred at 5:55 a.m. on westbound SR-76 between Benet and Airport roads.

When Oceanside police and fire units arrived, it was determined that a van and four passenger vehicles were involved, but all of the injuries were minor and that smoke in the area was from hot brake fluid spread all over one of the vehicles and the roadway.

A 60-year-old Escondido woman was killed and two other women were injured in a crash on Old Highway 395 on Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported about 2:30 p.m. just north of Deer Springs Road, a CHP Officer said.

The woman was driving a black 2002 Honda south on Old Highway 395 when, for an unknown reason, the car hit a curb on the passenger’s side, he said.

The Honda spun into the path of an oncoming 2013 Cadillac SRX headed north on the highway, also known as Champagne Boulevard, police said.
