Multi-vehicle accident causes 9 minor injuries, long delays, on S.R. 76.

The California Highway Patrol said a multi-vehicle crash on state Route 76 at Airport Road snarled traffic Wednesday morning in Oceanside.

The wreck occurred at 5:55 a.m. on westbound SR-76 between Benet and Airport roads.

When Oceanside police and fire units arrived, it was determined that a van and four passenger vehicles were involved, but all of the injuries were minor and that smoke in the area was from hot brake fluid spread all over one of the vehicles and the roadway.

A total of nine people were assessed by paramedics, but only two were complaining of any injury.

None required ambulance transport and all nine were released at the scene.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
