Tampa woman killed in single-vehicle crash on I-275
The Ford was traveling northbound in the inside lane of I-275 approaching the junction to I-4 when it went out of control, traveled across all northbound lanes and collided with the concrete barrier wall.
A passenger in a pickup truck was killed after a rollover crash on I-275 early Saturday morning. Kandice Michelle Tapia, 24, was the only one of five occupants who was not wearing a seatbelt, and the only one who was ejected and who died. The driver, 22-year-old Karen Juarez of Tampa, was seriously injured and transported to Tampa General. The truck was traveling north on I-275 near the I-4 interchange around midnight when Juarez lost control, swerved onto the shoulder and collided with the concrete barrier wall. The truck overturned several times, and Tapia was ejected. It is not yet known if alcohol usage was a factor in the crash.
