Madison A. Mendenhall, 14, killed, and Wallace Michels, 16, injured in tractor wreck on Highway 99 in Nicollet County, Minnesota

A 14-year-old Mankato girl died in a tractor accident Thursday night on Highway 99 in Nicollet County. The driver, Wallace Michels, 16, was traveling westbound on a John Deere tractor at 10:40 p.m. when it ran off the road after hitting a bump, the State Patrol said. The State Patrol has not yet officially released her name. The girl was also initially listed as having non-life threatening injuries in an earlier report but the patrol later reported she had died.
