Troopers: Willow woman dies in Parks Highway crash

A preliminary investigation found that Hyatt was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer south on the Parks Highway when she failed to negotiate a sharp left curve, troopers said. The SUV went off the road into a steep ditch and rolled several times in and out of the ditch before coming to a rest on the side of the road, Ipsen said.
A 26-year-old Willow woman died in a rollover crash on the Parks Highway early Saturday morning, Alaska State Troopers said. About 1:49 a.m., multiple people called troopers to report the crash, which occurred near mile 195 of the highway. A Cantwell-based trooper responded and found the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, who was identified as Brittany Hyatt of Willow, unresponsive. Troopers spokeswoman Beth Ipsen said Hyatt was driving home from a job in the Denali National Park and Preserve area when the crash occurred. Efforts to revive her were unsuccessful, and Hyatt was pronounced dead at the scene, Ipsen said. Hyatt, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle, Ipsen said. An autopsy is pending, and next-of-kin have been notified, Ipsen said.
