A 32-year-old St. Augustine man was killed in a crash in Putnam County early Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Around 5:25 a.m. Sunday morning, troopers say Scott Stinson was driving south in the outside lane of State Road 207. A log truck had completed a right turn from Stone Road onto SR-207 before the crash occurred. Stinson was reported as traveling south at a high rate of speed when the front of his pickup truck struck the trailer of the log truck. As a result of the impact with the log truck, Stinson's truck rotated counterclockwise and came to a final rest in the grass median. It then ignited and was engulfed by fire. The log truck traveled to a controlled stop on the west shoulder of the road. Both drivers were wearing they're seat belts and officials are investigating to determine whether or not alcohol played a factor in this crash.
