Redford traffic signal at fatal crash not working for days
"Sunday morning it was out," said Bob Burr. "Some cars stop, some don't. There's no stop signs."
A 56-year-old motorcyclist died in a collision at a traffic light that had not been functioning for days. The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Inkster Road and Lyndon in Redford Township. Police say the man had stopped his three-wheel motorcycle at the light on northbound Inkster Road when he was struck from behind by a Chrysler. The man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The other driver, a 37-year-old woman, was uninjured. The traffic signal at the intersection had reportedly not been working for days because of a power outage.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
