Comments

The crossing where Dr. Lew was struck used to be striped as a crosswalk. For safety reasons the city removed the striping and removed the curb cuts and re-routed to 26th Ave. crosswalk.  The speed limit was 50 mph and is 45 mph now. The big problem is that there is nothing more than signs and crosswalk stripes at 26th Ave. For real safety improvement, convert Vicksburg Lane from 4 to 3 lanes from 25th Ave to 18thth Ave. add a center refuge median to the trail crossing, add an RRFB system to alert motorists of pedestrian movements. Lower the speed limit to 40 mph. Educate the public. Enforce speed limits.
