An accident just outside of Mathis has claimed the life of one person. The accident happened between Edroy and Mathis on I-37. According to state troopers, the accident happened around 12:30 Sunday afternoon. The victim has been identified as 65 year old Apolinar Gracida from Raymondville.

Interstate 37 has reopened after a pileup between Loops 1604 and 410, according to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

The highway was closed for several hours, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

Dense fog may be to blame for several car wrecks that spurred the shutdown of Interstate 37 on the far southeast side Thursday, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

Accidents in both, northbound and southbound, lanes on I-37 at Hardy Road were reported.

A road maintenance worker who died early Wednesday morning after being hit by a car on Interstate 37 has been identified as Lewis Winston III, 36.
