An accident just outside of Mathis has claimed the life of one person. The accident happened between Edroy and Mathis on I-37. According to state troopers, the accident happened around 12:30 Sunday afternoon.

According to state troopers, the accident happened around 12:30 Sunday afternoon. The victim has been identified as 65 year old Apolinar Gracida from Raymondville. Troopers say the driver was headed north on I-37 when he rolled his vehicle three times. Police believe a medical problem may have caused the driver to lose control. Charlie Ramirez with DPS told 3 News, "he was a diabetic, probably was confused by a person that said he had called telling the family that he was meeting in Calallen area that he was disoriented thats when the crash happened."Authorities say the man was wearing a seat belt and was the only person inside the truck.
