Sterling Highway

Edmond Mallette Jr. was driving southbound on the Sterling Highway when he turned around in the roadway, failing to see an oncoming Alaska State Trooper patrol car. Both vehicles rolled into a ditch on the side of the highway.

The driver of a double tractor-trailer lost control of his vehicle near mile 52 of the Sterling Highway and crashed into the woods. He was flown by medical helicopter to Anchorage after crews cut their way throught the trees to rescue him. Alcohol is not suspected in this crash.

John Poiane was driving a van for Continental Van Lines, a moving company, on Sterling Highway when he lost control of his vehicle on the icy road and struck an SUV head-on.
