Alaska State Troopers say a 24-year-old driver for a moving company was operating on a suspended license when he crashed into a SUV on the Sterling Highway, injuring a woman behind the wheel.

“Investigation revealed (Poiane) was driving a 2000 International moving van for Continental Van Lines northbound on the icy and snowy highway when he lost control and crossed the double yellow line into the southbound lane,” troopers wrote. “McGinnis was unable to avoid the moving van due to a guardrail and was struck head-on by the moving van.”
John Poiane was driving a van for Continental Van Lines, a moving company, on Sterling Highway when he lost control of his vehicle on the icy road and struck an SUV head-on. The driver of the SUV, Lara McGinnis, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Poiane was operating on a suspended driver's license at the time of the accident.
