In Boston: Hopkinton groups team up to promote road safety
Runners are vulnerable emerging on the recently thawed Boston roads in preparation for the upcoming annual marathon. Considering this fact, local organizations are taking a Vision Zero approach to ensure the safety of those training for one of the biggest events of this resilient city.
"HOPKINTON — With the weather warming up, multiple town departments and organizations are teaming up again this year to raise awareness of runners training on the roads.
The number of runners training for the Boston Marathon on Hopkinton roads is expected to swell in the next few weeks. The race is a month away, April 20.
Three large banners that read "Caution: 2015 Boston Marathon Training" were unveiled at Tuesday night's selectmen meeting. The effort is sponsored by Hopkinton Police, Hopkinton Chamber of Commerce, Parks & Recreation Department, Hopkinton Running Club, Hopkinton Marathon Committee and the nonprofit 26.2 Foundation."
