Man, 63, dies after crash in Birmingham
A 63-year-old man injured in a car crash in Birmingham last week has died. Roger Lee Perkins, of Birmingham, died at UAB Hospital on Friday, the Jefferson County Coroner's Office said today.
The crash happened at 11:07 a.m. Thursday on Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard North at 47th Street North. Authorities said Perkins was the driver and lone occupant of a 1987 Ford Astro van. He was traveling westbound on Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. North when, for unknown reasons, he crossed over the center line and collided head-on with a Suburban. Perkins was taken to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:35 a.m. No additional information was immediately available.
